Frimley Park Rose Garden is a well-regarded rose garden situated within Frimley Park, an expansive "Old English" style reserve in Hastings, Hawke's Bay. Established in 1967 by the Hawke's Bay Rose Society, its design was notably inspired by Kew Gardens in England. This distinguished garden boasts a collection of over 5,500 roses, creating a vibrant and fragrant atmosphere that serves as a significant attraction, particularly during the annual Rose Sunday event each November.
The garden's layout features beds arranged in a circular formation, with two inviting paths leading to a central pavilion, which was added in 2014. Visitors can discover numerous arbours, informative panels, and seating areas strategically placed to allow for moments of quiet contemplation amidst the colourful blooms and their delightful perfume. Beyond the roses, the wider Frimley Park offers a specially designed playground suitable for all mobilities, featuring bright astro-turf and accessible equipment, and during the summer, the Frimley Aquatic Centre provides outdoor swimming options nearby.
This charming destination is ideal for various visits, from a tranquil escape for garden lovers and photographers to a celebratory setting for weddings, concerts, or family gatherings. Families particularly appreciate the inclusive playground facilities, whilst the annual Rose Sunday event offers a lively experience with music, entertainment for children, and specialist gardening advice. Its enduring appeal lies in its serene beauty, rich horticultural offering, and its role as a cherished community space for relaxation and celebration.

It's a beautiful place to be, and a nice break from the craziness of day to day life.
Whether you enjoy Roses or not, the beauty of this place is always worth a visit, if only to enjoy the peace, and appreciate the enormity of work that goes into it.
If any of the grounds keepers / gardeners see this review, I want to commend you on keeping such a wonderfully high standard throughout Frimley park. You keep it consistent no matter what Hawkes Bay is going through, and it's simply a wonderful place to be this time of year. Well done!
