Clean and warm. Beds were comfortable.

Unfortunately, the room itself was quite dated and didn’t match what I was expecting from some of the reviews. The laminate flooring felt sticky, there was a noticeable musty smell, and the windows behind the broken kitchen blind had mould and appeared not to have been cleaned for some time.
There was a noticeable stale cigarette smell in the room, which seemed to have seeped into the furnishings from previous guests who had smoked there. As smoking is permitted in the area, people were also smoking outside near the doors and windows during our stay, which added to the smell around the entrance and sleeping area.
The cutlery wasn’t clean, and we chose to buy our own drink bottles rather than use the glasses provided. The shower also had a strong urine smell. This became more noticeable once the hot water was turned on, which had to run for quite a while before heating up. The shower head was also quite heavily calcified, affecting the water flow.
Overall, the room felt like it had received some basic updates, such as newer beds and a coat of paint, but the rest of the room was still quite dated. Some reviews mentioned the rooms being newly renovated, but that wasn’t our experience with our room.
I’m not sure whether we happened to get one of the less recently updated rooms, as the higher reviews didn’t really reflect what we experienced. The friendly staff, convenient location, parking and reasonable price were definitely positives, but some rooms could do with some further cleaning, maintenance and updating.
