Have been here many times for the coffee and cabinet food which is usually great. Today I went in with my partner for some brunch, we spent $80 to get a big breakfast meal, a chicken burger and 2 drinks. The food came out within 5 minutes of us sitting down and everything but the hot chips was Luke warm. Possibly reheated rather than made fresh? Any customer would happily wait 15-20 minutes for freshly cooked food. Was given whole grain toast instead of sour dough, both poached eggs were cooked all the way through rather than how a poached egg is supposed to be served and the rosti tasted of pure oil. Not once were we asked how the meal was. Fast forward to after the meal we have now been violently ill. Just a bit disappointed to be honest with the quality of the food as this doesn’t match the price.

It's wonderful to hear that MÓN Bakery is still delivering great quality all these years later! Based on my experience and what I've found, here's a short review for you.

It was a lovely surprise to revisit this Havelock North spot, formerly known as Jackson Bakery, and find it just as good as I remember.

The pies were delicious, the coffee was even better, and the sourdough loaves were the perfect treat for the road.

It's great to see a family-owned place maintaining its high standards, with dedicated bakers starting fresh from 3am every day. This place definitely comes recommended if you're in the area.

Was very hungry, hadn’t been in this town for years so was hoping to get a decent pie! 🥧
Was pleasantly surprised with the fantastic taste of what I got.
Was friendly service and good atmosphere, clean and tidy.

The food at this café is solid, and the coffee is excellent. I ordered a Vienna, which isn’t on their menu, but they happily made one for me, and it was great.

One odd incident stood out— a lady returned 40 minutes after ordering tea to complain it wasn’t hot. At first, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. While it’s understandable that staff deal with difficult customers, I felt they could have handled it with a bit more grace. That said, I get that patience can wear thin with unreasonable complaints.

Overall, the service was decent, and the willingness to accommodate off-menu requests was a nice touch. I’d definitely return for the coffee.

Nice tasting coffee, had a eggs Benedict with a really nice hash brown, the eggs were a little more cooked than I would have expected. The waffle was nice. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Bought some really scrumptious looking date scones to take away and eat later.
A bit pricey though for what you get.
