We had such a lovely experience at Trinity Hill Winery and it ended up being one of our favourite winery stops in Hawke’s Bay.

Mike was fantastic and really made the visit special. He gave us his full attention and took the time to give us a personalised tour of the winery, including taking us through to see the wine barrels and explaining more about the winemaking process.

We then enjoyed a relaxed and informative wine tasting, with Mike talking us through each wine without ever making us feel rushed. We also had a beautiful cheese platter, which was the perfect addition to the experience.

The winery itself is stunning, but it was the warm, personal service that really stood out for us. It felt much more special than a standard wine tasting and was such an enjoyable way to experience the Hawke’s Bay wine region.

We would absolutely recommend Trinity Hill to anyone visiting the area.

MOST CLOSE TO MY RED WINE TASTE IN HAWKES BAY REGION WINERY. I do the premiun tasting, which only composed with Gimblett Grave wine range. All of the red one were have their own character, which made me really hard to choose what was the best. Their have also other tasting menu (as I remember around 3 or 4 more different menu). Bottle price was really resonable, and also tasting fee is waved by purchase one or more bottle. Here is my “personal” tasting note just for ref (Retalk, all of them are Gimblett grave range)

- Marsanne Roussanne 24
Nose: Citrus, pear, green apple, little bit of sweetness (close to honey). Not that many fruity character, but strong green & less ripened character.
Palate: Dry, adequate acidity, light character of nose but not sweet. Quite similar with Pinot gris or Reisling
Finish: Neat and clean finish. Not long, but fresh and drop finish
appx: first time try this grape species

- Chardonnay 24
Nose: Sesame oil, close to fresh sesame oil. Nutty, butter, oil, but it's not greasy.
Palate: Still have acidity and fruity/floral character, but is shaded by nose character. Have light texture compared to other oak fermentation
Finish: Long but not strong finish. Pleasant and fresh sesame oil & nutty finish. Can't find fruity & floral finish to me.

- Syrah 24
Nose: Really strong and complex spice like black/white pepper, herb, cinnamon, star anise? comes at first glance. Next comes with dark berry, but not that strong compared to spice character.
Palate: Complex spice which I felt at nose comes directly to palate, also tannin and dark berry like plum, blackcurrant comes more stronger compared to nose. But the texture is not that strong
Finish: Mouth filling tannin remain at finish, moderate spice character also. Layered, long lasting finish
appx: close to my desire Syrah taste

- Tempranillo 24
Nose: BBQ spice comes, different to Syrah like cumin, Montreal seasoning, smoked paprika, Cayenne pepper. For me, it feels like I'm eating beef jerky. Also dark chocolate, dark berry, especially dried plum or cassis comes after spice character.
Palate: Before nose character comes, massive and strong tannin fulfill my mouth. This tannin feels like having viscosity which means not only intensity, but also strong texture & long lasting
Finish: Surely, strong tannin remain at finish also BBQ spice and dark dried berry character exist. Long, endless finish
appx: most hard to analyse wine. Really complex and layered wine to me

- The Gimblett (Red blend) 22
Nose: Aromatic, layered, variety character comes at once. Creamy, dark berry, spice (for me, mainly herd like spice), wood burn smoky etc..
Palate: Compared to nose, palate is not that strong, but it is close to tidy. Medium tannin which cover my mouth gently, also moderate layer nose character comes with
Finish: Quite fast faded finish. It disappears at neat, little bit of sweetness remain at last. Just my guess it is covered by strong & complex palate

- NV Touriga (Non vintage)
Nose: Mainly dark berry and dark chocolate comes at first, next comes little bit of spices and smoke/oak character
Palate: Compared to common port wine, this one is not sweet (still have sweetness). Better to say it is sensitive. Not strong tannin, but it is pleasant and well balanced with nose character.
Finish: Bit dry and medium lasting finish. Strong nose character like dark berry & chocolate only remain which means straight and clear finish

After visiting several wineries in the area, we went to Trinity Hill and had amazing wines plus a wonderful experience! They are an absolute standout in the area. All of the wines we tasted were exemplary, and we walked away with the 2019 Homage Syrah and 2024 Gimlet Gravels Marsanne Roussanne. Mike was an excellent host who went above and beyond to customize our experience. And we’re thankful to the entire staff for making it a birthday I’ll always remember and cherish. Thank you Trinity Hills!! Cheers!

Absolutely cracking winery!!!! We loved our couple of hours here today, had a wine flight plus a few back vintage extras, and found a new gold standard 2015 Chardonnay I'll be shipping to Australia. Staff are excellent! The platter was to die for, the hot salmon on those was the best I've had in years! Thanks so much guys, best of the best!

Nice place to visit; probably one of the best wine tasting experience in Hawkes Bay. A large vineyard and a large seating space outdoors.
We went for wine tasting and the whole paddle was served at once. Amazing garlic bread as well.
For non-wine drinkers, they have a few options of pale ale and non alcoholic ones.
