Casa Ahuriri

Casa Ahuriri was an absolute highlight. A beautiful mix of Italian and NZ-inspired food with such a warm, welcoming atmosphere from the moment we walked in.

The food was delicious throughout, but a few standouts were the pizza bread with hummus, silky smooth with lemon and olive oil drizzled over the top, the fresh Insalata with peach, walnut, mesclun and lemon dressing, and the Ortalana pizza.

The staff were lovely and incredibly helpful with our dietary requirements, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re in Napier/Ahuriri and looking for a relaxed spot with amazing food and service.

We just passed by this place from our road trip and were craving for some good pizzas. And here is a surprise to us! No doubt is Italian restaurant making authentic pizza! We’d like to recommend my friends to come here if anyone would like to try good pizzas!

Sat at the bar, barman kept pushing drinks on us... maybe you know him, the tall skinny frigid man. Ended up having one to share, even then he pushed us for getting another one. Very bad start.

Ordered the Prawns Spaghetti and the Margherita Pizza... after being at Trattoria restaurant in Wellington, Iet's just say I wouldn't call this meal Italian. The pizza was good, not excellent, but the spaghetti... too cooked, almost mushy and waaaay too salty.

When I told the tall skinny barman, he said "Oh ok, it's not to your taste." and dismissed us... please someone train him?

We then told the super friendly waiter with curly hair who was super understanding and took the plate in the kitchen to taste it. He came back and told us that yes, it was too salty and offered us 50% on that plate as well as a dessert on the house.

While we waited for our dessert, the tall man tried to push more drinks on us.... really?

Finally, the tiramisu was the best I've ever had.

Hard to know where to start, there was the warm greeting at the entrance and then the amazing food and service! We went after a recommendation and I won’t hesitate to recommend to anyone that wants authentic Italian food, executed well with generous portions.
To start we had Mozzarella sticks with nduja dip, homemade Focaccia bread with Olive Oil, and Burrata with delicious nectarine and melon. (I know, we are greedy).
For mains my son had the pasta Ragu and I had the Snapper with mussels and parsnip cream, both sublime. All washed down with a super chilled glass of delicious Prosecco.
We finished (for our dessert stomach) with Tiramisu and a rhubarb and lemon tart.
The bill was very reasonable and we rolled out with a warm goodbye and very full stomachs.

If we could give Casa more than 5 stars we would. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is excellent, but it's more than that. You feel that you are valued as a customer right from the first visit. You feel like a good friend. And the food... The food is amazing. The depth of flavour, the quality. You can tell it is all homemade and made with love and passion. We could eat this food every day. Honesty the best food currently being served in Napier. Grazie.
