A really nice services club with cheap drinks and all you can eat dinner @$30.00 per person

We booked a table for 17 people last night. The woman who took the booking was polite and very helpful, which made the process easy.
Around 10 of us arrived early and went to the bar area for a drink while we waited. Unfortunately, the experience at the bar was disappointing. The first interactions with the bar staff were rude and unwelcoming, which was surprising given our previous positive experiences here. One young male bartender in particular seemed more interested in asserting authority than providing customer service.
As we got up to move across to the restaurant side for our booking, that same staff member decided to sharply reprimand some of the teenagers in our group. I told him there was no need to yell at them, but he attempted to escalate the situation further. I repeated that there was no reason to speak to our kids that way and that he needed to settle down. His inability to control his tone & emotions even when spoken to calmly maybe an indication that this isn’t his calling (or maybe he was having a bad day).
Thankfully, once we moved into the restaurant area the experience was the complete opposite. The staff there were welcoming, professional, and accommodating. The food was good and the restaurant was very busy, which speaks to the value people clearly see in dining there.
Credit where it’s due, the restaurant team did a great job. However, the bar-side experience was poor and needs attention. As a veteran who is regularly asked why many veterans choose not to join the RSA, interactions like this are exactly the sort of thing that puts people off. If the organisation wants to attract and retain members, the standard of service on the bar side needs to improve.
I am more than happy to have a conversation about this with the person I’ve mentioned and or his management if necessary.

Wow! Walked in to a very warm welcome. We walked in off the street to have a very enjoyable meal for $30 each including dessert. This must be the best RSA on the East Coast. Would certainly recommend this RSA to anyone just wishing to have a meal and a quiet drink in pleasant surroundings.
