Bareknuckle BBQ Cafe & Restaurant

We were looking for a good place to eat in Napier and came across this nice, calm spot. We ordered the Beef Brisket Meal and the Loaded Mac n Meat, and both were amazing! The beef was incredibly tender, the pasta had a generous amount of delicious sauce, and and the portion size can be good for sharing, depending on your appetite (it was perfect for me and my partner).

Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, the servers were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable. We'd definitely love to come back whenever we visit Napier again. ☺️

If your confused about the 2 star rating but the 4 star on the food / Service / Atmosphere it comes down to the tiny amount of food they supplied . I have used a standard kiwi potato peeler for a scale.
My wife and I thought we would grab a bite to eat so ordered online and picked up. The lady was nice to call to warn us that they had moved so that was very thoughtful.
I'd like to be transparent and say these are listed under sides so I guess they are not supposed to be main sized, in saying that as soon as I was handed the bag I knew it was going to be underwhelming. $16 for 3 very small pieces of brisket, $15 for less than a handful of pulled pork and $16 for 4 small chicken tenders and $8 for Slaw so $55 all up.
You are basically paying for "taste tester" boxes. I understand cost of business, lease, wages etc but do you not realise it is about return customers? Give the customer something to remember and for us that is value for money. When you add the amount of protein we got which would have been maybe 250grams total then you understand how over priced they are. To be fair to them the chicken was beautiful, the brisket and pulled pork was nice but the slaw was just ok. So yes what we got was nice enough but not the amount.

A great restaurant to dine at. After always driving past this place we decided to finally try it out.

What a great decision that was. The menu has something for everyone. I chose a burger, while the others got; nachos, fries and beef cheek.

All the meals came out at the same time and looked stunning. The presentation was amazing, plus the meals tasted delicious. A great bang for your buck with the meals filling us up with the great portion sizes.

The staff looked like they care and love the work they do. The smiles and way they talked about their work was exciting to see.

The dessert menu had us all intrigued so we tried one of each. Just like the dinner everything was exceptional.

This has become our favourite restaurant, with plans to come back for birthdays and celebrations.

17/12/23 went here for lunch, was a lovely sunny day so sat outside. Lots of seat inside and out. Lots of good options,and the prices are really good. I LOVE THE FOOD HERE, especially the Brisket Burger and Brisket meal

Total change for the better since the last time we're here (new owners).
Food awesome and didn't wait long. Staff friendly and chatted with one of the owners. Great for families and activities for the kids while you wait for your meal.
$20 something menu great value for money and big selection (great for a date night).
Only minor thing would be cost of ribs and amount (you get a lot, I couldn't finish it). Would like to see smaller portion option offered.
Apart from that thoroughly deserved 4/5, we'll be back!
