Sirloin steak was cook nicely but the fat could have been done a bit more. Overall the food was really good.
Our waitress, Frankie, was really lovely.

My visit to lone star Napier was disappointing to say the least. Have eaten at many lone stars, you know what you are going to get and it’s always reliable. So was expecting the same in Napier. Didn’t need the menu as I knew what I was going to order. Lasso of hog is always my go to. I’ll let the pictures explain the quality of the meal but to be served up this as a 400 g rolled pork loin was a joke. To the credit of the staff when I pointed out that the serving was nowhere near a 400 g piece they did bring me a second one and two my surprise it was just a small as the first one and together would have been lucky to have been 300 g. I didn’t get offered a free pudding but to be honest all I wanted was a decent meal as I said earlier I’ll let the photos do the talking.

Delicious food & cocktails! Staff in training were very friendly. No water was on the table when we sat down. Lots of items were unavailable on the menu. Food took quite awhile to come out, although there were only two or three other tables with customers. Don’t expect to spend less than $40 odd for a main - but they are decent portion sizes!

Food was pretty good, after
it eventually came out. Took over an hour for 3 of us. Had to ask for water twice. The wife wanted a potato bake with her entre, and that never came - even after asking for it again. Server didn’t seem very interested, although he was friendly.

I would like to try again when staffed accordingly. Lots of patrons, and with limited staff the stress was very evident, but I feel front of house handled well given circumstances. Am hoping that this may be a factor as to why the food was not at all satisfactory.

I ordered Dixie chicken. Chicken hot, mashed potato stone cold, edges warm/hot. Coleslaw, horrible. (Even though I asked for steamed veges instead of salad, did not happen).
Tacos, barely any meat, filled with coleslaw. Coleslaw also had big chunks of cabbage, not pleasant. (Didn't get eaten).

Steak, rubbery as were the eggs. Ordered medium rare, was very over-cooked. (Did not finish).

Had starters of ribs, chicken nibbles, squid and mussels. All were okay in taste. (Just like your typical restaurant food). Not very well presented. Especially the squid.

Dessert - wonderful! Pav, milkybar, cheesecake & banoffee, all tasted great. Was a nice way to finish a terrible dinner. Downfall - We waited 1 hour & 30 mins to receive our dessert. (We only remained patient as we took in to consideration the lack of staff).

We arrived at 5.30pm - we left just after 9pm due to wait times for food.
At a cost of $298 for 2 adults and 2 small children, I'd have appreciated a lot better.

Overall I wouldn't go back for starters or mains but I would for dessert.
