Most breathtaking place in Hawkes Bay region. Car can fo to the top of the peak, also have small parking place. But I recommand to park at main gate parking lot and have brief hike around 20 - 30 min to top. Hiking trail (red colored one) is really clear view, and not that steep to hike up to top

Te Mata Peak is an absolutely stunning hike with breathtaking panoramic views at the top. The trail is well-maintained and offers a rewarding experience for anyone who enjoys nature and adventure. The scenery along the way is beautiful, and the summit provides incredible views of the surrounding mountains, lakes, and landscapes. It's definitely worth the effort and is a must-visit spot for anyone exploring the area. Highly recommended for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers!

One of the most stunning lookouts you can hope to find, with incredible panorama 360 views, and a sunset to die for !

Plus there’s fossilised sea shells in the limestone rocks, which is pretty special too!

Beautiful views, can drive all the way to the peak with plenty of parking (when we were there before sunrise on a sunday). Would definitely recommend to come at sunrise or sunset. Driving road was a bit narrow near the top. Some of the walking tracks are quite narrow and near the mountain edge, need to be careful.

A must stop destination! 🗺️🚙 It’s a bit of a drive all the way to the top- the drive up isn’t the easiest. Very TIGHT, windy road with many blind spots. Respect the road. Go slow & be cautious of other cars going up / down!

At the top- it offers 360 view of stunning vastness of nature all around! The viewpoint is really breathtaking! Parking at the top is a little tight as well - so find a spot & get out to walk around to enjoy the view!

The colors are stunning. The peak is beautiful. The way the clouds above change the shadows across the peak below is beautiful.
